One year ago I traveled to the islands of Fiji. I thought I was going there to help change the lives of the children through education, little did I know I would be the one who would be changed. Behind the eyes of each one of these children is poverty and the constant battle for the need of food and protection. These factors however, are not the ones you see in their eyes. You see the brightness of the world they live in through dance, culture, and family. Fijian’s live through suffering everyday, yet somehow they join together to create this univocal energy of peace and joy for what little they have. I will be forever grateful to have been part of a community with admirable morals like these.
